brtt_face_1I’m Brittany Burian, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over twenty years of experience supporting teens, adults, couples, and families. I help people navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, addiction, life transitions, and the effects of unhealthy family, religious, and community systems.

Because every person’s story is unique, I believe therapy should be too. I use an integrative, individualized approach, drawing from a variety of evidence-based modalities and tailoring treatment to each client’s strengths, needs, and goals. Rather than simply managing symptoms, my work focuses on understanding the deeper patterns that contribute to distress, creating lasting healing and meaningful change.

About

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over twenty years of experience helping teens, adults, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges. I earned my M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Seminary in 2004. I am licensed in both California and Oregon, providing secure telehealth therapy to clients in both states. I also offer in-person appointments on Saturdays at my Portland office.

I believe therapy offers a unique opportunity to slow down, better understand ourselves, and create meaningful, lasting change. Together, we explore the patterns that shape your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors with curiosity rather than judgment. My goal is to provide a compassionate, collaborative space where you feel safe enough to be fully yourself while developing greater self-understanding, emotional resilience, and more fulfilling relationships.

I work with concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, parenting, life transitions, communication challenges, grief, stress, and the lingering effects of difficult family, religious, or other high-control experiences.

My primary therapeutic approach is Internal Family Systems (IFS), which helps people develop a compassionate relationship with the different parts of themselves while healing the wounds that keep them feeling stuck. I also integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process traumatic experiences and reduce the impact of painful memories. Depending on each person’s needs, I thoughtfully incorporate developmental psychology, attachment theory, psychodynamic perspectives, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and family systems thinking to create an individualized approach to treatment. I believe no single model fits everyone, and I tailor therapy to the unique person sitting across from me.
