Child Therapy

149eEffective therapy for children is both playful & engaging.  Since play is a child’s primary language, it is through play that children work, learn, grow & express themselves.  As a child therapist I am trained to carefully observe children and respond to what they might be communicating through their behavior and play.

I tailor my approach to the individual child and work in an age-appropriate way, for example using play or drawing with younger children, but talking about feelings with older kids. The relationship between the child and the therapist is central to treatment.

Many kids need help dealing with school stress, such as homework, test anxiety, bullying, or peer pressure. Others need help to discuss their feelings about family issues, particularly if there’s a major transition, such as a divorce, move, or serious illness.
